Nice article about the book cycle I'm halfway through right now. John Crowley's AEgypt tetralogy is one of the most ambitious, and interesting, series of novels I've ever read. If you have several weeks to a few months to spare in which you can spend several years to a few millenia, I recommend picking these up. The Solitudes/Love & Sleep/Daemonomania/Endless Things.
